Produced by Signum di Essegi, based in Bassano del Grappa, and designed by Milanese architect Francesco Rienzi, the Palladio d'Oro is an exquisite writing instrument. The pen is the result of a careful study of the decorative elements and designs typical of Palladian architecture.

Only 20 pieces have been made, each valued in excess of $10,500

From the cap to the barrel to the nib, every detail reflects the architectural elements of Vincenza's Villa Emo, Billa Caldogno, the Basilica, Palazzo Chiericate and the Rotonda. The top of the lapis lazuli cap features the coat of arms of the Commune of Vicenza.

Signum Pens has the honor of creating an award on behalf of the famed City of Vincenza, Italy's City of Gold. . . .

The City of Vicenza Award

Italy’s beautiful Renaissance city, Vicenza, has created an award …… the Golden Palladio Award

The award comprises Signum’s beautiful Golden Palladio limited edition fountain pen, which was styled on the work of Italian Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio.

Palladio’s inspired architectural creations, evidenced in his beautiful villas and other landmark buildings, have helped shape the world that surrounds us today. The award also reflects the fact that Vicenza is the centre of the world’s gold jewelry industry.

In essence the Award is a tribute from the city of Vicenza to people who have made significant contributions to the world community……….whether in the arts, sciences, literature, community services, or philanthropy.

The first award was recently awarded to Carlo Rubbia, the recent Nobel Prize Laureate in physics. Other pens have been awarded to director and actor Giorgio Albertazzi, architect Alvaro Siza and American author Derek Walkott. Each award presentation, made by the mayor of Vicenza, Enrico Hullwech, has taken place against the backdrop of the city’s Teatro Olimpico.

Produced by Signum di Essegi, the Golden Palladio fountain pen features the decorative elements and designs typical of some of Palladio’s famous architectural works, including the Villa Elmo, Villa Caldogno and the Basilica.

An exclusive and limited edition series of 20 pens have been made.
